Traveling during the holidays is stressful, and long security lines and overweight luggage don’t help. It becomes especially stressful during the busiest travel day of the year. There are a few things you can do ahead of your trip to ensure that your travel is efficient and stress-free.

Have your boarding pass handy

Print out your boarding pass ahead of time or have it saved on your smartphone. Having your boarding pass ready to go will save you unnecessary time spent waiting in line to have it printed or left dealing with an unreliable self-service station. If you are flying with an airline that doesn’t assign seats, check-in before arriving at the airport to the avoid the record long lines.

Keep Your Necessities Close

By keeping all of your essentials within arms reach you’ll ensure that you don’t spend any additional time digging through your bag when you need to quickly get through security or to your gate. You don’t want to have TSA yelling at you to take out all liquid items for screening. Keep your things organized. Items like your ID, cash, boarding pass and liquids can be kept handy in a specific pocket or smaller bag to ensure that you move through the airport smoothly.

Avoid Checking Bags

With the amount of people traveling during the holidays you don’t want to run the risk of your bags getting lost or delayed on the tarmack. Be diligent about what you bring and only pack what you need to minimize size and weight. You don’t want to take any chances, so carry on your luggage so that have no delay in getting out of the airport and on with your trip.
